The creation of the Auto Fanatic Care Care Line was not something I ever had intentions of doing. What started out as a fun test of me diving into social media and sharing my passions, skills and stories with a new world of automotive fans I saw a niche where I would fit in. My goal was to show the world real professional results with no BS marketing hype that solved real care care problems. I guess this is why my car care review videos became some popular that even the major brands I showcase reach out directly for my feedback so they can better their products and ask advice on what changes I would like to see. The car care industry is massive, beyond massive in the scale of numbers and product offerings on the market at any given time. The main urge for me to step into this already saturated arena was not easy but my background and audience are tired and frustrated with companies releasing new products each week that just do not deliver or solve real problems. There are many car care companies in this game for the sheer profit and not for the passion. Go find a chemical compounding company and see if the owner actually is really into cars or just in it for other reasons. I am not saying this is for all brands but once you step up the corporate ladder of some of these corporations and even mingle with the key players you’ll get it. This also applies to the smaller boutique brands out there. Then there are guys that are obsessed and passionate about car care and the automotive lifestyle to a level of craziness that many may not understand. This is the category of the Auto Fanatic, I can not even tell you how many car care companies are out there today where the owners and staff do not even own specialty cars or attend shows. Does this even make sense? How can you promote car care or any automotive brand and not be so insanely passionate about the specialty and collector car hobby? This is what makes everything I do real and authentic, because this is my life every single day I wake to the moment I crash each evening. Dedicating my life towards an automotive lifestyle is not easy being hands on and in a technically challenging environment daily. If your in the automotive world and want to be taken serious and earn credibility you better prove it through your actions, lifestyle and dedication.
The drive that pushed me into this new venture is that so many of these products on the market fail to deliver real results affordably or solve real problems we all face detailing our cars. I am one to never compromise on any project or business venture. I am fortunate enough to have the resources, dedication and capital to make this a reality. Irony asside because when I was 13 years old I was selling car care products for a local distributor in NY. This guy would see me and my friends always hanging around the car shows on our tricked out BMX bikes and that one day he approached us to help him. I have to say looking back he was a smart guy to scout such car crazy kids to help him promote his car care brand. I do not think Bob was moving enough product to make ends meet for his lifestyle, he was about 30 or so years old but to us he seemed like an old guy but he just wasn’t savvy enough to be in sales. Bob drove this 1980’s Monte Carlo in black with a landau top with chrome mag wheels, the car was so bad ass with a glass pack open exhaust, blacked out windows and soft velour seats. His car smelled like a candy story with all the air freshers he would pack in the trunk to sell. Bob offered us a deal to go to the shows and help demonstrate the products and he would give us a percentage of the profits. The entrepreneurial sprit was alive and well since the age of 5 so this new opportunity was a great idea. Growing up we always had these school fund raising programs where we had to sell chocolates or get people to donate to humanitarian causes like UNICEF. Call me a hustler or a smart business minded kid but every time I had a chance to sell something I always would jot down the basic math of the numbers and how I can make profit. For instance we had to go door to door to sell chocolate bars, at a price of $2 per bar. Most kids barely sold their first box because they were lazy and showed zero enthusiasm for the process, me on the other hand I was already on my 3rd box because I spent the time to tell each customer of the added value and help their donation would make for our school. My pitch ability was so good that I was able to sell each of my bars for $3. The $1 dollar left became my profit for the extra effort I put into selling volume. I never was satisfied following the norm, I never was like my other classmates and friends because I put in that extra effort no matter what it was because of the challenge and experience.
Working with Bob and the car care line is really a shadow of the same scenario from earlier on in my life. Bob would give us boxes of wax and product to sell. We had to pay him $7-$10 per bottle and he advised us we can sell them from $12-$15 per bottle. The margins seemed ok and I just liked the idea of being around car shows and mingling with the older crowd and smelling gasoline. My friends would struggle to sell product because not every personality type makes for a successful salesperson. It got to the point where my good friend gave up and said he needed help to unload a few cases and knew I could do it. Bob was this hard ass Italian guy who if you did not deliver he would get very angry and intimidating. So now I have 4 cases of product, each bottle cost me $10 and I not only needed to sell these bottles for my friend I also wanted to make a profit. With this challenge at hand I changed my approach and went around to local business owners to sell the products. I went to auto body shops and car dealer service centers. I got my first auto detailing work because of this and I eventually became a detailer part time for 3 local body shops after school and in the summer. In the end I was able to sell each bottle for $20-$25 with a cash profit of $1700 after expenses because I was able to demonstrate the product unlike Bob and the other guys working for him. I showed each customer the added value and versatility of the product and proved the problem solving nature. My auto detailing content continues this tradition today in what I show you guys on my Youtube channel. This car care selling gig made me some decent money at the age of 13-15 years old and I soon started my own detail business in the Bronx. Bobs black Monte Carlo was also one off the first black cars I ever detailed and learned the ropes on. Maybe this is why I enjoy working on black cars and why I always owned one. These impactful experiences can really leave an impression growing up.
Being confident in the product, process and technique is what is takes to be successful in this car care arena and this is very exciting that after 30 years I am now back to my early roots of the automotive lifestyle. I think timing is everything and I never knew how big this industry would become growing up to even think of a personal dive head first into my own car care product line. I have built many automotive brands and luxury product lines over the years and this is exciting to share with my fans each and every step along the way. I post demo videos and so many fans are anxious to get their hands on my product but perfection takes time. All things must be in order and my name and accomplishments in the automotive industry are at stake. There is no room for compromise here and patience and perfection must prevail. I will never follow the trend like the big boys do by releasing mediocre products over and over it’s like choosing from a 20 page menu at the local diner.
I am working non stop to get everything ready from the packaging, labels and manufacturing of each product I will offer. The amount of real world and scientific lab testing I am doing and investing takes time. We are going to start with offering 3 specific products for various problem solving needs for car care. They will offer an outstanding value, professional results and ease of use for the user. The versatility and added value will become a game changer for professionals and enthusiasts alike. Once we see how these 3 products are received publicly I will then reinvest every single dollar of profit to create more new and exciting products for you guys.
