I recently had a retractable hose reel failure at my home workshop and just shot a video for you guys showing in detail why the reel failed and why I invested $300 in a professional MADE in USA Reelcraft reel assembly as shown below. The internet and stores abound offer cheap Chinese junk when it comes to tools and equpment. They look fancy with the nice paint and logo decals and offer an excellent value if these damn things ever worked properly and did not grenade when in use. One such reel is posted below, a cheap Harbor Freight reel that did not last me 3 weeks before the hose started to crack and the spring mechanism broke. You see there is one main factory in China making this junk for various resellers under different names online, Harbor Freight, Klutch, Chicago , Reelworks etc. What is misleading to consumers who shop online is there is no physical way to see how these are all the same units in a different color and sold at different prices. Brands who spend more marketing consumers seem to price theirs higher than others.

So folks do yourself a favor, save the headaches and get yourself a manual reel cheap or invest in a Reelcraft. The last thing you want to ruin your day is for a cheap reel to spin out of control and whack you in the face, your child, pet and car also become big targets for these out of control reels.
