A Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing awaits my entrance for the day of enjoyment. I truly miss this car and wish I owned one for a daily driver. The car is so practical and usable versus my GT350 as I kept repeating this during my drive video. The cars size combined with it’s tight and nimble chassis and usable power was able to give me 100% fun on the same roads that my GT350 can only offer 40% of the fun due to the lack of room and sheer size of the two cars side by side.
The inline 4Cylinder EcoBoost power plant has plenty of power and torque and with aftermarket modifications you can generate up to 700+ hp. Granted this motor is no flat plane crank 5.2 V8 but it has enough power to make the car fun and this is what makes this car so damn good is that you can jump in and go to the grocery store and have fun where as you can not get that in most sports cars these days. Everyone in our modern generation is so hung up on status and horsepower numbers when in the real world of owning cars those are irrelevant factors that have nothing to do with why you buy a car like the Ford Focus RS.
Very Nice Interior with properly designed Recaro leather and micro suede sport buckets, Exclusive RS blue trim. The interior is simple, plain and nice, not luxury but at least Ford Performance put leather on the seats instead of cheap fabric like my Shelby has. The dash and instrumentation is lame in design and function but you simply can not have your cake and eat it too in this price segment. Seating position is taller than usual and the pedal placements feel a bit odd and take getting use to. The clutch is very stiff and springy and after driving it all day it was a pleasure to depress the clutch pedal of the Shelby GT350 which is the smoothest and easiest car I have ever owned to drive.
Proper View of the outstanding chassis architecture, Ford Performance Engineers really spent time perfecting this little cars dynamic and sporty feel that it blew my mind. The spring rates and shock valving along with the chassis stiffness makes the Focus RS feel much stiffer and sportier than even my Shelby GT350 in track mode. It is the sheer size and tricks Ford Performance did on this car that make it so special. Did you guys know this car is built in Germany? Maybe this has something to do with how solid and direct this chassis feels I do not know but this little hot hatch blew me away. I could not believe this was a Ford product off the showroom floor that was sprung so stiff and has Michelin Pilot Cup 2 tires and a ridiculous amount of shock compression and rebound dialed in. A perfect combination for a true enthusiast like myself to enjoy. If your the type of buyer who would complain this car rides too stiff you should not be shopping for a high performance car, the stiff ride is what gives the Focus RS it’s character.
Go over to my Youtube channel and watch my review of the Ford Focus RS, this was the most impressive car I have driven all year so far and I still miss driving it.
